A trend apparent in beet transport in Europe is that growing numbers of transport companies are switching from tippers to moving floor trailers. The Netherlands is at the forefront of this trend. High numbers of Knapen moving floor trailers take part in the beet campaign thanks to the benefits they offer in terms of maximum load factor and safety for drivers and their surroundings. The benefits of volume: The high bulk density of sugar beet means a maximum load volume of approx. 70m3 is sufficient for the Dutch market. The self-supporting construction of the Knapen moving floor trailer makes a short trailer of 11 m long enough. In countries with a maximum permissible train weight of 50 tons, an even shorter moving floor trailer is suitable for the purpose.

Manoeuvrability: These short moving floor trailers also have a tight turning radius and offer outstanding manoeuvrability on narrow country lanes and in farmyards. This eliminates the need for a steering axle.

Lowest own weight: Thanks to its self-supporting construction, light aluminium body and carefully configured specifications, Knapen Trailers supplies the ideal beet trailer with an absolute minimum weight.

Horizontal unloading means no risk of tipping: Whether you are unloading on an uneven surface or in high winds, you can always discharge your load safely under all conditions with a moving floor trailer.

Automatic sheeting system PowerSheet®: This option enables drivers to open and close the sheeting automatically and from the safety of the cab using the Knapen remote control. They no longer have to climb on the platform. As well as enhanced safety and ease of use, this also saves a huge amount of time.

Maximum workload reduction: Options such as an automatic, hydraulically-driven retractable bulk head and a hydraulic tailgate frequently feature on moving floor trailers used to transport beets. These features maximise the workload reduction and also increase safety and speed.

Beet tips and beet pulp as return loads: Because you can unload the trailer horizontally, beet tips and beet pulp can be easily carried as a return load. The stickiness of beet pulp often causes problems when tipping. The ability to carry return loads sharply reduces the number of empty kilometres and significantly increases the efficiency of each trip.

Economic with fuel: If you opt for the automatic sheeting system PowerSheet®, as well benefitting from greater safety and ease of use, you also increase the sustainability of your operations. As the PowerSheet ® avoids driving with an open sheet you can benefit from significant savings on fuel.
