We are putting a new generation of the Knapen movable bulk head in the spotlight. Its development was partly based on some valuable practical experiences from the field, resulting in an overall update of the movable bulk head. The exact changes are explained below.
The shape of the extruded profile around the movable bulk head has been redesigned to make it stronger. A curve has been added to the back of the extruded profile. The lower sheet of the movable bulk head goes around this curve to more evenly distribute forces acting on this sheet. This has made the overall construction stronger, enabling the lower sheet to carry a higher load and extending its service life.
Adjusted height
The ground clearance of the redesigned movable bulk head has been reduced from 100 mm to 70 mm. This improves the functioning of the lower sheet, leaving less residual load in the trailer. This goes for both conical and straight trailers.
The attachment of the sheets to the side of the movable bulk head has also been optimised. Just like the lower sheet, these sheets are now also attached with a full-length strip and blind rivets. This adjustment also helps to improve the distribution of forces on the sheet, maximising its service life.
Extensively trialled
The new movable bulk head was subjected to several tensile strength tests on a purpose-designed test bench. Extensive practical trials were also carried out under a wide range of circumstances. Since all tests and trials were passed with flying colours, we now proudly introduce this redesigned movable bulk head.
As of now, all new Knapen trailers will have the new generation moveable bulkhead as standard. This does not apply to trailers with the optional lightweight sheet movable bulk head and the Knapen EXTREME trailers.
Existing Knapen trailers can also be retrofitted with this new variant without further modifications. Please contact your Knapen dealer or local service workshop for further information.
