Inplugable boards
The Knapen EXSIDE side door trailer can optionally be equipped with inplugable boards. The boards are used when transporting coal or ore. This is quite common in Scandinavian countries. These types of cargoes cannot be top loaded into the trailer due to their impact on the moving floor. Placing boards in the EXSIDE creates a raised edge. This enables the moving floor trailer to be loaded from the side using a loader.
The boards are made of robust, aluminium profiles and are 495 mm high. They are finished at the base with a stainless steel edge with attached stainless steel pins. The six boards are placed individually into the side profiles of the moving floor trailer from the side and then secured by plugging in the stainless steel pins.
Once the boards have been installed, the moving floor trailer can be loaded from the side by a loader. This minimises the impact on the floor. The boards create a raised edge which the loader bucket can reach over to load the cargo. These loads have an extremely high specific gravity , so the volume is relatively low.
When the boards are not being used they can be stored in a stainless steel box under the chassis. The openings in the side profile of the trailer are sealed with stainless steel plugs to prevent soiling.
